The college offers a two-year full-time Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course to train the teachers at the secondary school level. The intake capacity is 100. The course is structured per the Guidelines of Gauhati University under which the college is affiliated and suggestions proposed by NCTE.

2. Ataur Rahman College of Education
The Ataur Rahman College of Education is an outcome of the dream of the philanthropists and educated personalities of the district of Barpeta, Assam. Late Ataur Rahman was one of the greatest souls and educationists of the state. He started his career as a history professor at Cotton College, Guwahati, Premier College of Assam. Later, he joined politics and became a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Jania, Assam for three consecutive terms. During his political career, he rose to the position of Deputy Speaker of the Assam Assembly and then state Minister of Panchayat, Rural Development and Agriculture, etc. He was also a great scholar and wrote many valuable books to his credit. He has made enormous efforts to spread education Among the weaker and poor people of the state in general and to this vast area of the western part of the Barpeta district in particular.
In a largely attended public meeting in the year 2005, there was an anonymous resolution to start a teacher training college at Udmari, Kalgachia after the name of such a great son of the state. The Government of Assam has accorded NOC to the college on the recommendation of SCRT and Subsequently, Gauhati University also accorded permission to start the classes. Now the managing committee has fulfilled all the required norms acquiring recognition from NCTE, Bhubaneswar, and waiting for the inspection.
